About the Role

We have positions available with pay rates between £21 - £68.16 per hour* in permanent, part-time, and ad-hoc shifts.  

Neonatal Registered Nurse (RN) Responsibilities

As a neonatal nurse, you will play a crucial role in the care and support of newborns in NICUs. Generally, NICU nurse positions involve the following responsibilities: 

  • Administering medications: This includes prepping and checking medicine as well as overseeing certain special treatments like tube feedings. 

  • Caring for newborns: Feeding, diaper changing, bathing, and monitoring patient's vital signs and any activity. 

  • Liaising with specialists: Making sure that each patient's care plan meets their specific needs and is communicated clearly across the team. 

  • Helping parents with care education: Providing information on feeding and sleeping and giving emotional support to families. 

  • Performing checks: This includes measuring, looking for a range of symptoms or congenital conditions, and doing Apgar tests. 

  • Operating and maintaining specialist equipment in NICU or HDU: This includes incubators, ventilators, oxygen saturation monitors, IV drips, and breathing machines. 

  • Attending births: NICU nurses are responsible for a range of tasks during labour, from monitoring vital signs to performing resuscitation and stabilisation. 

What Do You Need to Apply for NICU Nursing Jobs?

  • A current professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

  • A first-level qualification as a RN, Registered Midwife (RM), or Registered Children's Nurse (RSCN)

  • Previous nursing experience within a neonatal care setting (e.g. NICU or SCBU) 

  • The ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care for babies 

  • The ability to recognise and respond rapidly to emergency situations 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Basic IT skills

  • A valid right to work in the UK. 

  • A bank account (proof of bank statement)

  • Proof of address that you are residing in the UK at the time of applying 

  • Copies of your training certifications

  • Basic English language literacy
